Community Focus - Lincoln County Young Farmers attend Leadership Conference
- March 06, 2013
On January 25 and 26, we traveled to Louisville to the 2013 Winter Outing for the Kentucky Farm Bureau Young Farmer’s Leadership Conference. The weather was certainly not in our favor! We convened at the Marriott downtown this year and had a wonderful conference. While we did get off to a slow start with attendees having to take their time on the roads, we had great attendance!
This year for our service project, we gave to a local mission, the Wayside Christian Mission, in Louisville. They take care of homeless people, formerly homeless and indigent people and help them get back on their feet. It was certainly a worthy project.
There were many useful breakout groups to attend at this year’s conference. There were workshops on Identity Theft, Grain and Cattle Markets, Farm Safety, Social Media (and using it effectively), KSP: Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and others. There was even a class to keep the kids entertained and safe while the parents were busy elsewhere. In the evenings, we had a chance to attend the Louisville Science Center, ice skating and monster trucks! There was something for everyone!
