- May 01, 2014
David Campbell, Jack Blair, and Thelma Blair attended the 2014 Kentucky Farm Bureau Congressional Tour in Washington, D.C. from February 23 - 27, 2014. The three Lincoln County board members attended a briefing meeting from American Farm Bureau and Kentucky Farm Bureau on current issues to address with their congressmen. Mark Haney, President of
Kentucky Farm Bureau and David Beck, Executive Vice President welcomed the Kentucky delegation. Joe Cain, Deputy Director of the Commodity Division of Kentucky Farm Bureau and a Lincoln County native, gave us a briefing on issues. Krysta Harden, Deputy Secretary from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, informed us of her priorities in implementing the Farm Bill. The next day the 3 Lincoln Countians got to have breakfast with Hal Rogers where we addressed issues such as: thanking the congressman for supporting the recent Farm Bill that had been passed, environment, tax reform, trade, how immigration reform will effect farm labor, and the clean water act and restrictions that EPA wants to put on farmers. Later in the morning we met Congressman Rogers for a personal tour of the Capitol that was very informative and historical. Wednesday afternoon we continued with our visit to the Nation's Capital with a question and answer session with Senator Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell.
