- November 01, 2010
State Representative Richard Henderson was the special guest speaker at the Wolfe County Farm Bureau meeting on Monday evening, October 18. Representative Henderson gave the board an overall review of the 2010 legislative session and also a review of bills that affected Kentucky farmers and agriculture.
Representative Henderson spoke about policies that affect farmers in his district and in Kentucky. He spoke about his strong support of Senate Bill 105, which put into place the Livestock Care Standards Commission, an animal care oversight board. Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation was the lead organization in lobbying the State Legislature for the formation of this board.
Mr. Henderson also told the board that he fully supports 50 percent of the Phase I funds being used for agriculture and farming programs. He pledged that he would continue to support this funding.
President Carroll Amyx noted that Representative Henderson is one of the most accessible legislators in The Kentucky General Assembly. He has always been willing to come to Wolfe County to speak at Farm Bureau events and other agriculture organizations and to listen to concerns of the group.
The board voted on a slate of resolutions to be sent to the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation for consideration at the Annual Meeting in December. The board also elected officers for the upcoming year. Carroll Amyx was elected as President and Pam Pilgrim was elected to serve as Vice-President. Phyllis Amyx was elected Secretary of the Board and Susan Cable will serve as Treasurer.
