Community Focus - July Picnic
- July 29, 2013
The July meeting of the Logan County Farm Bureau Federation was held at the Cross Roads Community Center. The Farm Bureau Young Farmers grilled rib eye steak sandwiches to compliment the pot luck meal. KY Farm Bureau Second Vice President, J. Fritz Gieske and several elected county officials were in attendance. This annual event gives Farm Bureau an opportunity to express their appreciation to those who hold office for the work they do on behalf of farmers and agriculture in general. The elected officials were given an opportunity to speak on subjects that were of interest and concern to those present. There was much discussion about the new county wide recycling program. Many people like it and some do not like it. Time will tell how successful the program will be. Everyone had an opportunity to discuss issues in a relaxed setting.
Following the meal, Pres. Frances Brown conducted the regular Farm Bureau business meeting. Preliminary plans were made for the annual meeting scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Sept. 14th at the Extension Office. Farm Bureau day at the State Fair is August 22nd. Discount tickets are available. The Logan County Safety Day will be held Sept. 12th. It is open to all4th grade students enrolled in Logan County and Russellville City Schools. If they attend the safety day they are eligible to enter the safety day Poster contest.
