Washington County Farm Bureau will award four $500 scholarships for the current school year. The scholarships are available to high school seniors and current college students.

Five Washington County high school seniors received college scholarships from Kentucky Farm Bureau. In partnership with the County Farm Bureaus, the Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation awarded $465,400 this year to deserving students from across the Commonwealth.

In 1994, Kentucky tobacco producers grew 187,000 acres of tobacco, weighing in at over 453 million pounds and worth nearly $841 billion. That was 10 years before the Fair and Equitable Tobacco Reform Act eliminated an antiquated tobacco quota system that had been in place since 1938.
