We welcome the news that the USDA will authorize up to $12 billion in programs to help farm families weather the losses caused by unjustified retaliatory tariffs on U.S. agricultural goods. Since these tariffs have been put into place, commodity markets have dropped and surplus goods from the farm will soon be piling up in storage facilities around the country. While these federal programs will assist producers during this turbulent time in the agriculture industry, we look forward to the administration’s continued efforts to rectify this situation regarding tariffs, while searching for new markets. Kentucky farmers and producers around the country are the most productive on the planet and we must have these export markets to remain sustainable as we continue feeding our citizens in this country and throughout the world.
