We applaud the efforts being made by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Congressman James Comer to bring about legal production of industrial hemp in this country. By introducing the Hemp Farming Act of 2018, this legislation further opens the door to a new production crop for Kentucky farm families. While we know, as with any new venture, seeing profitability from industrial hemp may take some time to realize, the bipartisan support of this bill is a great next-step as we work to once again make Kentucky a leader in industrial hemp production.
