Market Update - July 2, 2013

Posted on Jul 2, 2013
The fireworks are in the JULY CORN contract as it rebounds sharply from Monday’s 24-cent loss. Price action in the expiring (on July 12) JULY CBOT contracts is often a function of who still has long or short positions in the JULY and which segment (longs or shorts) are in a stronger situation.

Other CBOT futures contracts are little changed at this hour although prices have traded both sides of unchanged.

Cattle futures are down slightly after posting daily gains on Monday.  Cash markets may struggle through the July 4th holiday period.  Hopefully, the grills are very busy this week(end).

Deferred Lean Hog futures are down modestly on ideas cheaper corn will result in more pork this fall.
