Market Update - February 4, 2013

Posted on Feb 4, 2013
CBOT futures were supported early by disappointing weekend rains in South America. However corn fell off after the USDA export inspections came out where only soybean exports were favorable.

Cattle futures opened strongly on Friday’s friendly Cattle Inventory report but has traded down quite a bit since then. Boxed beef values have not been supporting the cash market. A Russian ban on US beef and pork is also a negative factor.

A strong US dollar is weighing on commodity futures and the stock market.
