Market Closes - October 16, 2012
Posted on Oct 16, 2012Market reports are noting today that farmers are leaning toward storing soybeans over corn that may have quality problems (including aflatoxin). See stories at the end of this message about KY corn.
Cattle futures closed higher on rising boxed beef values, optimism for stronger cash prices at the feedlot, and from recent weakness in corn futures. Choice UP $1.14 and Select UP $1.66/cwt. Beef packers reportedly are still operating in the red, so they will resist paying more.
Lean Hog futures closed mixed with little change, following similar action in cash hogs and the pork cutout value.
