Market closes - June 3, 2014

Posted on Jun 3, 2014
CBOT futures closed lower on pressure from accelerated planting progress and by favorable soil moisture in most areas. All wheat exchanges made new lows for this current down move.

Cattle futures closed higher as boxed beef showed some strength today. Choice beef increased .23 to 232.66 and Select beef was up 2.37 to 223.85/cwt.  Feeder cattle futures hit new contract highs.

Lean hog futures closed higher.  The June LH contract was up for the first time in 8 trading days. July, August and October LH were up sharply as traders anticipate slaughter numbers will head lower pretty soon. Pork value is holding onto the gains recently found.  FOB Plant Pork was up .54 to 118.78/cwt.
