Market Closes - April 9, 2015

Posted on Apr 9, 2015
CBOT futures closed near steady in corn to much lower in the soy complex. The USDA reports were pretty much in line with average guesstimates. Soybeans were pressured by this morning’s weekly export sales report that showed net cancellations for Old-Crop soybean sales. Soybean meal futures were especially weak today with the May SM contract at levels last seen in October 2014. Initial support is $311, then $300-302.

Corn Planting Date not as Important as Other Factors

Livestock futures trading was fairly uneventful with closing prices being little changed. Traders are waiting for more direction from cash markets. The surging US Dollar and its negative impact on exports is negative. Meat markets were mixed. Choice beef closed down .75 at 258.39 and Select end up 1.40 at 252.45. FOB Plant Pork closed up .50 at 66.14.
