Mark Stone is the winner of the 2021 Kentucky Farm Bureau Communication Award.

Mark Stone, editor of the Times-Argus in Central City, Kentucky, is the recipient of the 2021 Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) Communications Award.

The Kentucky Farm Bureau Communications Award recognizes and honors the outstanding efforts of a professional journalist whose recent work has contributed to a better public understanding and appreciation of the people, communities and issues connected to Kentucky agriculture.

“I am truly honored to be receiving this Farm Bureau award. I want to thank Mary Kate Kordes for her encouragement and our ag agent, Darrell Simpson, for his input."

Stone has been editor of the Times-Argus for 39 years and has been a long-time supporter of agriculture in Muhlenberg County. The Time-Argus publishes a National Ag Week section each March, a section on Farm Safety each September, and numerous stories throughout the year about local farmers, Farm Bureau, and FFA activities.

A popular and heartwarming feature enjoyed throughout the community is a section called Thank a Farmer which highlights notes written by local second graders showing appreciation for farmers and the food they grow.

Stone was nominated for the KFB Communications Award by Muhlenberg County Farm Bureau.
