Louisville, KY (June 2, 2015) – Though the school year is winding down across the Commonwealth, Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) is already helping high school graduates gear up for their first semester of college. Heading into the summer, state and county Farm Bureau have provided 312 scholarship grants totaling $396,550 to students across the state.

Scholarship Press Release ImageCounty Farm Bureaus awarded 226 college scholarships for a total of $268,350, and the Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation granted an additional 86 student scholarships in the amount of $128,200 from both county and state funding sources.

KFB’s Education Foundation, created to help Farm Bureau members and their families reach their goal of obtaining post-secondary education, was formed in 1953. The total dollar amount of scholarships awarded has increased year after year since the program’s beginning, which, according to Susie Tanner, Coordinator of the KFB Education Foundation, is a goal of Farm Bureau.

“The Foundation’s main objective is to help as many students as possible reach their education goals. College tuition costs continue to rise but Farm Bureau scholarships can help offset some of the costs associated with obtaining a degree,” said Tanner. “There is no better investment for the organization than to invest in our members and their children.”

During the last 62 years, the KFB Education Foundation has awarded approximately 1,500 college scholarships – worth more than $2.3 million dollars – to both traditional and non-traditional students.
