Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) is proud to announce that Congressman James Comer of Kentucky’s First District has been named Outstanding New Member of Congress by the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF).

KFB nominated Congressman Comer for the award because of his commitment to agriculture and rural life in Kentucky and across America.

“Congressman Comer knows firsthand the many challenges in agriculture today,” said KFB President Mark Haney. “We are grateful for his dedicated service to agriculture and rural America.”

Congressman Comer is a farmer whose operation consists of beef cattle, corn, and soybeans. He grew up showing Charolais and served as Kentucky State FFA President. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University and was Vice President of the Monroe County Farm Bureau.

Congressman Comer previously served as Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture and as a member of the Kentucky General Assembly. 

We commend Congressman Comer on his tireless work on the House Agriculture Committee and as a member of the 2018 Farm Bill Conference Committee,” said AFBF President Zippy Duvall.  “He has been a good friend to agriculture not only in his home state of Kentucky, but to farmers and ranchers across the country,”

AFBF’s Outstanding New Member of Congress award is presented to one first-time representative or senator, regardless of party affiliation, whose philosophy and record demonstrate a commitment to the private enterprise system, sound agricultural policies supported by AFBF, fiscal conservatism and reduced federal regulation of business and individuals.
