Cathy Weaver, 4-H Agent in Jessamine County, is the 2021 KFB Farm PR Award Winner

Cathy Weaver, University of Kentucky Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development in Jessamine County, is the recipient of the 2021 Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) Farm Public Relations Award.

The Kentucky Farm Bureau Farm Public Relations Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of individuals who, in their chosen (non-journalistic) profession, inform Kentuckians about agriculture and the accomplishments of individual farmers.

In her role with Cooperative Extension Service, Weaver has promoted agriculture in Jessamine County though clubs, special programming, and events. She has served in Leadership Jessamine County and organizes Ag Day tours to promote agriculture with youth and adults.

Weaver frequently speaks at schools and offers demonstration events to highlight agriculture and leadership development. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she created an online “Bake-A-Long” program. This was one of the most successful virtual 4-H programs in the state.

I believe the promotion of agriculture, especially to our Kentucky youth, is a pinnacle part of their education.  To be able to help youth understand what goes into our food and fiber system is critical for their future support of Agriculture,” said Weaver. I cannot put into words how honored I am to be selected for this award. I am so thankful to be recognized by Kentucky Farm bureau and our local Farm Bureau. I never dreamed that my work would be recognized like this.

She was nominated for the KFB Farm Public Relations Award by Jessamine County Farm Bureau.
