Louisville, KY (June 8, 2012) – David S. Beck, Executive Vice President of Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation, announced today that Carilynn Gravatte, a Graves County native, has been named Social Media Specialist. Her appointment is effective June 25.

In this new role, Gravatte will serve the Communication Division by coordinating efforts to build awareness of both Kentucky Farm Bureau – which includes both the Federation and Insurance Companies – its interests and programs through the use of social media. She will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring Kentucky Farm Bureau’s presence on its various social media platforms, developing social media content strategies, advising management of the best use of social media to promote the organization’s mission statement, and developing relationships with groups and individuals who will partner with Kentucky Farm Bureau to advance its organizational goals and objectives.

Gravatte gained valuable experience interning with Monsanto and The American Meat Institute, and added a global perspective of agriculture through her most recent role as a regulatory specialist at Alltech. Her interest and expertise in website and social media development was expanded as she served as the creative director for a marketing firm, Marketing Chicks, LLC. She will be called upon to use all of these skills and experiences to help officially launch the organization into an active presence within the world of social media.

“Carilynn brings with her the unique combination of a sincere passion for agriculture and deep understanding of and enthusiasm for social media,” said Beck. “I am excited for all that awaits Kentucky Farm Bureau as Carilynn helps us launch into the realm of social media, providing our organization with a new way to interact with our member families.”

Gravatte was raised on a dairy and tobacco farm in Mayfield, and holds degrees in both Animal Science and Communication from the University of Kentucky’s College of Agriculture.
