Alan Watts of Trigg County is the Kentucky Farm Bureau Communication Award winner.

Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) today announced that Alan Watts, News and Farm Director of Edge Media Group in Cadiz, Kentucky, is the recipient of the 2022 KFB Communications Award.

The Kentucky Farm Bureau Communications Award recognizes and honors the outstanding efforts of a professional journalist whose recent work has contributed to a better public understanding and appreciation of the people, communities and issues connected to Kentucky agriculture.

“I host the Morning Ag Report to share the message of agriculture each day of the week. I began the program to serve agriculture, but quickly realized it was a way to spread the agriculture message to those who are not connected to the farm,” Watts noted.

Watts has been the News and Farm Director of Edge Media Group for 27 years and is a strong supporter of farming and agriculture. With the development of the Your Ag Edge Network, Watts now shares the message of agriculture, agritourism, and rural Kentucky on 82 Kentucky radio stations across the state through the Travelin the Bluegrass show that is played more than 100 times a day.

Additionally, Watts hosts the KFB podcast called The Farmers Voice featuring farmers from across the state. On the show, popular topics include the biggest challenges about farming as well as what guests enjoy most about farming.

Watts was nominated for the KFB Communications Award by Bullitt County Farm Bureau.
