WASHINGTON, D.C., January 4, 2013   As several thousand Farm Bureau members from across the country gather in Nashville during the coming week, they will have the opportunity to raise funds for a great cause. The American Farm Bureau Foundation will be hosting its second annual online auction at  www.BiddingForGood.com/agfoundation.

Farm Bureau members and non-members alike with a computer and online access can bid on more than 115 items of all types and sizes in a wide range of price points. The auction opens at 8:30 a.m. Central on Jan. 7 and will run for one week, through Jan. 14 at 5:30 p.m. Central.

More than 35 state Farm Bureaus donated special items from their states, including Omaha Beef from Nebraska, a maple syrup and pancake basket from New Hampshire, citrus gift baskets from Florida, wine from California and beautiful Indian jewelry from New Mexico. Additionally, corporate sponsors and partners donated high-ticket items with the farmer and rancher in mind, like the $5,000 seed credit from Monsanto.

The auction raised more than $32,000 last year and hopes are even higher for this year. Nationwide Insurance, in addition to donating four NASCAR race tickets, will match the donation level up to $15,000.

Anyone who has computer access and is willing to bid for a good cause is encouraged to bid high and bid often between Jan 7 and Jan. 14. Proceeds benefit the projects of the American Farm Bureau Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to build awareness, understanding and a positive public perception of Agriculture through education.
