From the region’s own unique style of barbecue to quilt and art shows and of course seed spitting competitions; they’re all on tap for this coming weekend’s Monroe County Watermelon Festival. Co-chair Susan Turner runs down the events major attractions and says past survey work indicates they’ve drawn folks from as far away as Wisconsin, basically, seeking out that small, home town experience.
