A report on a USDA product procurement effort to encourage the development of more ‘bio-based’ products to reduce dependence on foreign oil and reduce their carbon foot print. USDA’s Ron Buckhalt coordinates their BioPreferred program giving purchase preference to bio-products, and they’ve now unveiled a ‘bio-product’ label program to certify produce contents.
