UK, and other partners have just completed a 5-year research project to analyze switchgrass production as a biomass fuel for energy plants. UK forage specialist Ray Smith says the project was a success as growers did quite well in production. He says while current market conditions make biomass uncompetitive in that arena, turns out the grass will work quite well as a warm season feed or livestock.
