The latest Marketbasket survey of Kentucky food prices showed the average tally for the 40 staple food items to be down slightly by 0.3 percent from the quarter ending September 2012. Ky Farm Bureau’s Dan Smaldone helps coordinate the price tracking effort and notes that it appears that the impacts of the 2012 drought, to a large degree, were not yet reflected in food prices in the ending quarter of last year.
