In a state like Kentucky, with rolling hills over much of the land, making corn and bean production impractical, forages have long been an economic option turning those grasses into beef and profits, making us the largest cattle state east of the Mississippi. UK forage specialist Garry Lacefield says that’s why the annual Ky Alfalfa Conference (Feb 21 in Lexington) is such a big draw for farmers.
