For Metcalfe County youth involved in the county’s 4-H country ham program, a recent ag development grant of about $3,800 made the difference. Local extension agent Amy Branstetter says the local program teaches the kids about leadership and other life skills.  Branstetter is hopeful their county will fare well in statewide competition as the state fair opens Aug 20.
