Except for Lean Hogs, it appears to be a “Turnaround Tuesday” in commodity futures. Energy is rebounding, as are grains and the soy complex. While stocks are steady, US Treasury yields are erasing part of Monday’s yield declines.

Choice beef is down .81 at 233.18 and Select is down .88 at 227.95. See the Blue Grass Cattle report at the end of this message – higher prices.

FOB Plant Pork is up 1.37 at 89.31/cwt on stronger values for loins, picnics, hams and bellies.

Very good demand for 600-700 lb steer and bull calves. Heifer calves sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher with very good demand. Featherweight offerings sharply higher with very good demand. Good through attractive quality offering today. Yearling steers sold steady in a limited comparison. Slaughter cows sold 1.00 higher with good demand and slaughter bulls sold steady to 2.00 lower in a light test with moderate demand.

03 replacement cattle, 87 slaughter cattle, and 598 feeder cattle. Today's supply included 57.6 percent that weighed over 600 lbs. 31.8 percent steers and 27.7 percent bull calves 1.0 percent Holstein Steers and 27.7 percent heifers of total recorded feeder supply. 45 head of slaughter cows with 91 percent going to slaughter. 12 head of slaughter bulls with 100 percent going to slaughter.
