Ag Literacy Week

In celebration of Ag Literacy Week, the local board donated a copy of this year's Ag Accurate Book to each of the elementary schools, as well as the public library.

We are pleased to have been invited to set up at West Elementary School's health fair. We enjoyed the opportunity to educate our youth on the importance of agriculture.

Scholarship Opportunities

The local federation will award three $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors who wish to further their education. Scholarship applications have been delivered to the local high school guidance counselors and FFA teachers. Applications can also be obtained at the local Farm Bureau office at 3186 US Highway 27 South; or by contacting the local women's chair Ashley Dunaway. Ashley can be reached by calling 234-0957.



Harrison County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting

Please find attached three pictures from our Annual Meeting. The meeting was held on September 19th. One of the pictures is of Fritz & Alex Barnett. The one with the small child is of our Young Farmer Chair-Phil Terhune presenting a $150 gift certificate to the Outstanding Young Farm Family. Tom Zack, Kayleigh, & Audrey Evans. The third picture is of our two Outstanding Youth contestants. Mary Grace Furnish (left) and Ally Barnett (right). Ally was the winner. She will represent Harrison Co. at the District contest on Oct. 20th.

Local Scholarships and IFAL Participants

Harrison Co FB Federation awarded 3 $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are pursuing higher education. The 2013 winners are Joseph Bush, Kyle Foster & Rebecca Quinn Switzer. Also, Susan Brooke Darnell of Harrison County was chosen to receive a state federation scholarship.

Ally Barnett of Harrison County was chosen to participate in the IFAL program at UK this summer.
