Two of Harrison County's own will represent District 9 at the state youth competition at the Annual Kentucky Farm Bureau Meeting in December. Quentin Sowder will showcase his auctioneering skills in the variety contest and Gracie Furnish will be the Female Outstanding Youth representative. We wish them the best of luck!

In celebration of National Agriculture Literacy Week, the local federation donated and read 'The Apple Orchard Riddle' to local schools, as well as the local public library. We welcome any opportunity to share agriculture with our youth!

In celebration of Food Check-out Week, Harrison County Farm Bureau made a donation to both of the local food pantries, Harrison County Food Pantry and Hope's Helping Hand Pantry. We also made a donation to the Weekend Snack Bag Program. (The Weekend Snack Bag Program is a program our local public school system has started-They send food home with kids on the weekends.)

Harrison County Farm Bureau Women's Chair Ashley Dunaway presented scholarships to the 2014 recipients at Senior Award's Night, June 2nd. Joshua Dillon Pulliam, Audrey Michelle Ramsey, & Alexander Lynn Barnett each received a $1,000 scholarship from Harrison County Farm Bureau. Erin Bradford received a $1,000 scholarship from the Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation. We extend our best wishes to these students as they further their education!

In celebration of Ag Literacy Week, the local board donated a copy of this year's Ag Accurate Book to each of the elementary schools, as well as the public library.

We are pleased to have been invited to set up at West Elementary School's health fair. We enjoyed the opportunity to educate our youth on the importance of agriculture.

The local federation will award three $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors who wish to further their education. Scholarship applications have been delivered to the local high school guidance counselors and FFA teachers. Applications can also be obtained at the local Farm Bureau office at 3186 US Highway 27 South; or by contacting the local women's chair Ashley Dunaway. Ashley can be reached by calling 234-0957.

The third picture is of our two Outstanding Youth contestants. Mary Grace Furnish (left) and Ally Barnett (right). Ally was the winner. She will represent Harrison Co. at the District contest on Oct. 20th.

Harrison Co FB Federation awarded 3 $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are pursuing higher education. The 2013 winners are Joseph Bush, Kyle Foster & Rebecca Quinn Switzer. Also, Susan Brooke Darnell of Harrison County was chosen to receive a state federation scholarship.
Ally Barnett of Harrison County was chosen to participate in the IFAL program at UK this summer.
