Statement from KFB President Mark Haney regarding proper labeling of meat products

As a cattle producer, I am thankful to the General Assembly for passing House Bill 311 which will ensure lab-grown protein products are properly labeled for consumers. I would also like to thank Representative Michael Meredith for sponsoring this important bill.

As the largest cattle-producing state east of the Mississippi, our farm families provide consumers with high-quality meat products they are accustomed to, and they deserve to know exactly what they are purchasing.

Farm Bureau has long supported science-based facts being used to attain accurate information related to agriculture. We will continue to support proper labeling for any lab-grown protein and want to ensure the labeling accurately informs consumers of the difference between it and the meat products grown conventionally by farm families across our state.
