News - KFB offers members free identity theft recovery service
- December 19, 2011
In an effort to help protect its 506,749 member families from the fastest-growing crime in the country, Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) is unveiling a new member benefit: identity theft recovery services from ID Experts.
This benefit was officially launched at the beginning of November and immediately effective for all active KFB members. Offered to at no additional cost, the identity theft restoration benefit is included in KFB’s annual membership dues and coverage is extended to all eligible family members in a household.
“Identity theft is a rapidly-growing problem in our nation,” said Dwight Greenwell, KFB Director of Member Services. “Unfortunately, anyone can be a victim.”
According to statistics gathered by Javelin Strategy & Research, an independent firm that has tracked national identity theft data since 2003, approximately 8.1 million Americans had their identities stolen in 2010 (down from 11.1 million in 2009 and 9.9 million in 2008). In addition to the months of time often required to fully reestablish the correct information associated with one’s identity after it has been stolen, similar research by Javelin suggests that consumers spend an average of $631 per incident in out-of-pocket expenses trying to close their cases. Many victims go on to learn that the damages of identity theft continue to linger for several more months. Nearly half of all identity theft victims experience difficulties with new credit or loan applications, and many are tagged with higher credit interest rates.
Alleviating the headaches that come with identity theft becomes much easier with services like the one KFB is now providing to its members.
“Any member who uses this benefit just one time will have justified a lifetime of membership dues,” said Greenwell. “I believe this service will prove to be one of the most valuable member benefits that Kentucky Farm Bureau has ever offered.”
KFB’s new member offering comes through a partnership with ID Experts, a national leader in the identity theft restoration business. With clients ranging from Nike and Johns Hopkins to the U.S. Army and Social Security Administration, ID Experts has set itself apart from the competition as a trusted and capable source for identity restoration after a breach has been made.
“This benefit will provide peace of mind to our members,” added Greenwell. “If a Kentucky Farm Bureau member has his identity stolen, not only will he have a place to call right away for help, but he will also have a personal recovery advocate assigned to work his case from start to finish. The mental relief this safety net provides is almost as valuable as the information and money it ultimately protects.”
