Statement from KFB President Mark Haney regarding proper labeling of meat products

As a cattle producer, I am thankful to the General Assembly for passing House Bill 311 which will ensure lab-grown protein products are properly labeled for consumers. I would also like to thank Representative Michael Meredith for sponsoring this important bill.

In keeping with Kentucky Farm Bureau’s (KFB) efforts to continually provide learning opportunities to its members, this year’s Young Farmer (YF) Leadership Conference hosted nearly 300 attendees for a weekend filled with educational workshops, tours, and the chance to network with each other, as well as state ag leaders.

KFB's Outstanding Youth Go to Washington

Lauren Rowlette of Madison County and Marcus Wiseman of Clark County were named 2019 Outstanding Farm Bureau Youth during the KFB Annual Meeting held last December. As part of that honor, the two were given the opportunity to attend this year’s Congressional Tour to experience the organization’s efforts to advocate at a national level.

A well-known farm broadcaster says he continues to hear quite a bit of optimism from farmers across the country in spite of some challenging years for agriculture.  Max Armstrong, who co-hosts “This Week In Agribusiness” on RFD-TV, talks about spending time with farmers, the stories they share with him and the need to spread the word about agriculture.

Murray State University Hutson School of Agriculture Dean Dr. Tony Brannon is working to re-brand hemp across the state.  Dr. Brannon says Industrial Hemp needs to be replaced by the name Agricultural Hemp because of the many potential uses of the crop that is being grown today.
