CBOT futures closed mixed with old-crop corn ending lower and soybeans and wheat posting modest gains. Cattle closed lower today, much like yesterday – with feeder futures losing more ground than live cattle. Lean hog futures closed sharply lower to down the daily $3.00 limit (expands to $4.50 tomorrow).

After trending higher in overnight trade, CBOT futures amplified the rally when trading resumed at 8:30 am CT, leading to sharply higher closes in most contracts. Cattle futures closed lower across the board with feeder futures hit the hardest due to sharply higher corn futures. Lean hog futures closed higher with the May & June LH posting strong gains.

CBOT futures had a “turnaround Tuesday” with most CBOT futures closing higher to sharply higher. After opening steady to higher, cattle futures closed lower with feeders posting bigger losses due to rising corn futures. Lean hog futures closed narrowly mixed as the market lacked direction.

CBOT futures closed steady to mostly lower, with sharp losses in corn, beans and wheat. Live cattle futures closed mostly lower while feeder futures were mostly higher. Beyond the expiring April LH contract, lean hog futures closed mostly sharply lower after starting the day higher making new contract highs.

CBOT futures closed mixed with old-crop contracts lower and new-crop corn and soybeans higher. Live cattle futures closed slightly lower on profit-taking going into the 3-day Easter Weekend. Lean hog futures closed higher, supported by a very strong weekly pork export sales report.

In response to a bullish USDA Prospective Plantings report, corn, soybean and soybean meal futures closed up their respective daily limits. Live cattle closed higher on stronger fed cattle prices and the beef cutout, but feeder futures fell hard when CBOT prices soared to limit-up levels. Lean hog futures ended narrowly mixed.

Except for soybean meal, CBOT futures closed sharply lower ahead of tomorrow’s grain stocks report and planting intentions. Cattle futures closed narrowly mixed and with tighter trading ranges. Lean hog futures closed higher on strong fundamentals.

CBOT futures closed mixed with traders cautious ahead of Wednesday’s USDA WASDE and Grain Stocks reports. Cattle futures closed strongly higher, making new highs for March. Lean hog futures closed lower across the board after hitting new highs on Friday as a result of the bullish Hogs & Pigs report.

CBOT futures closed mixed with corn and bean mostly higher and settling at/near the top end of the day’s range. Cattle futures closed higher with the feeders seeing better gains. Lean hog futures ended mixed with the first 5 contracts higher led by the April LH up $1.30/cwt.

CBOT futures were nearly all higher at the close, recovering from Monday’s weakness. Cattle futures closed higher, adding to Monday’s gains; some contracts pushed above last Thursday’s closes. Lean hog futures closed strongly higher, supported by sharply higher cash hog prices and pork cutouts.
