Alex Young is attending ACTC / Morehead State studying Elementary Education and working the after school program at Cannonsburg Elementary. On March 18th Alex read the book “The Apple Orchard Riddle” by Margaret McNamara and G Brian Karas to the students on behalf of Kentucky Ag Literacy Week / National Ag Day. This book is a playful humorous story, the students learn a lot about apples and apple orchards – including how apples are harvested, how cider is made and what the different varieties of apples are while trying to solve a riddle. A snack of apples and apple juice was given to the students provided by Boyd County Board of Directors.
Alex is the granddaughter of Linda Hardeman, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee and CSR for the Boyd County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

Boyd County just celebrated Food Check-Out-Week February 15-21, 2015. Linda Hardeman Chairperson of the Women’s Committee visited Craycraft’s IGA on Court Street in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. We talked with some customers in recognition of Food Check-Out-Week. Let them know how America’s Farmers are most productive and efficient in the world by providing us with an ample supply of safe and affordable food. Farmers help feed our community, state, nation and other people from around the world with the goods they produce. The cashiers at IGA and both insurance offices passed out the promotional cards so everyone could learn more about Food Check-Out-Week. Kentucky Farm Bureau Agency Manager Bryan Carroll joined in to help us celebrate. Boyd County Farm Bureau sends out a “Big Thank You” to our Farmers and Agriculture. Additional history information on Food Check-Out-Week is available on American Farm Bureau Federation website.
