FFA Trap Team Places 1st!
Saturday, October 31st, FFA Club Members from Union County High School participated in a elimination event for the team. The participates shot trap; one practice round and another round for the team.
The top five shooters in this event were Drake Gibbs, Cody Crowdus, Ethan Fox, Wil Jackson and Tyler Buckman. Dakota Jones earned the alternate position for the regional event.
The FFA Regional Event was held Thursday, November 5th, at the Daviess County Gun Club, in Maceo, Kentucky. The event was open to FFA members in the surrounding eight districts.
For the third straight year, the Union County team placed first out of the participating chapters in the region.
FFA/4H is a great way to get you child involved in the thrilling and unique lifetime sport of Trapshooting. It also is an excellent way for them to learn firearm safety from a certified coach. Band of Braves Finishes Strong
The Union County "Band of Braves" just completed a successful season of marching band competition. The group finished 10th at the KMEA Class AA West Quarterfinals, its third highest finish in school history.

UCPS Achieves Academic Gain
Josh Powell (L), Superindendent UCPS and Steve Carter, Director of Student Support Services and Pupil Personnel. Mr. Carter is also head coach of the Union County Braves football team.
Union County has achieved one of the highest gains in the history of the Kentucky Education Reform Act, moving up 74 spots in the rankings issued by the Kentucky Association of School Councils to recognize academic excellence.
"It is remarkable what our teachers and students have accomplished in such a short time. We have now embarked upon our journey to greatness--which will soon be synonymous with Union County," said Superintendent Josh Powell.
The district is currently ranked 87th out of 175 school districts, as opposed to 161st
out of 175 last year.
