Annual Meeting Variety Showcase

Marion County's Allison Stafford amazed audiences at the Youth and Talent Show for District 5. She performed for Marion County Farm Bureau at its annual meeting, and represented us at the District 5 meeting. We are proud that she took home the winning trophy and was one of 11 acts chosen to perform at the state annual meeting.

$5000 Reward Program

With many of the member benefits that Farm Bureau offers our insurance agents would like to remind everyone of the $5000 REWARD Program. Taylor County has one member that assisted in the information that lead to an arrest and conviction of a person committing a theft. The Farm Bureau member did have one of the $5000 REWARD signs on his property. The $5000 REWARD signs and stickers are available in your local county Farm Bureau office.

Stroke Screening held December 14th

The Taylor County Farm Bureau hosted a health screening to detect risk for Stroke, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Peripheral Arterial Disease and Osteoporosis on Tuesday, December 14 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thirty seven Farm Bureau members showed up to take part in the screenings. The three technicians on site were very knowledgeable and stated that three members who were screened were advised to see a doctor as soon as possible. Many of the Farm Bureau members stated how convenient the screening was and that the cost was very reasonable.

Dog Food Donation

On behalf of the Taylor County Farm Bureau Federation, board member David Cowherd (center left) presented over 500 lbs. of dog food to John Harris, Director of the Taylor County Animal Shelter (center right). The dog food was purchased from representative from Jeffries Feed Seed & Supply (left), Phillips Agri (second from left), and Arnold’s Feed (right). Taylor County Farm Bureau is active in many community events and is also committed to representing the interests of its members through programs and membership benefits.

State level Farm Bureau Federation representative Danny Wilkinson has suggested that each county support their local SPCA. Taylor County Farm Bureau Federation will be participating in the support of the SPCA with purchasing $150.00 of dog food and donating the dog food to our local animal shelter here in Taylor County.

Farm Bureau Women

Taylor County Farm Bureau Federation Women’s committee consists of Carol Sullivan-Chair, Darrelyn Underwood and Susan Reynolds. Each year the women’s committee promotes the Women’s Educational Grant, Outstanding Young Farm Bureau Youth contest and Variety Show contest.

The Women’s Educational Grant application can be found at www.kyfb.com/federation/scholarships the completed application deadline is October 29, 2010. The application can be mailed to the following address:

The Outstanding Young Farm Bureau Youth application deadline is September 30, 2010 applications for contest can be found at www.kyfb.com/federation/program-links/youth-development/outstanding-young-farm-bureau-youth. Carol Sullivan must have the applications by Thursday September 30, 2010.

The Variety Show Contest application deadline is September 30, 2010, applications for contestants can be found at www.kyfb.com/federation/program-links/youth-development/variety-show-contest. The applications are to be turned into Carol Sullivan no later than Thursday September 30, 2010.
