Buying the Best
To help you enjoy the freshest products, here’s a quick guide on key characteristics to look for when buying blueberries.
LOOK FOR: Firm, fully blue, silvery bloom
AVOID: Shriveled, leaking, berries with green or red patches
U-PICK: Gently roll the berry between your fingers to pull. Ripe berries will come off easily without resistance. Avoid tugging or picking any green or red berries, these are not ripe.
Washing and Storage Tips
Place berries in a colander and rinse under cool water. Store unwashed berries in a breathable container lined with paper towels. Storing wet berries may cause them to mold faster. Wash and use within two weeks. Freeze extras for baking or smoothies.
