Finalists Named for the 2018 Outstanding Young Farm Family Award

Three finalists have been named for the 2018 Kentucky Farm Bureau OYFF honor, in recognition of their achievements as part of the farming community. The finalists are Nicholas and Bethany Hardesty of Meade County, Wesley and Alicia Logsdon of Pulaski County, and Drew and Liz White of Union County. The winner will be announced at the Kentucky Farm Bureau Annual Meeting at the end of November.

The Grain and Forage Center of Excellence, that is being constructed at the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center in Princeton, is continuing to build excitement among farmers and the agribusiness community.  Director Dr. Chad Lee says it is also attracting a new class of researchers and graduate students to Princeton to carry out their work and studies.

Not only will the 2018 Beef Bash at the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center in Princeton be a day of learning, it will also be a day to celebrate the retirement of Beef Cattle Specialist Dr. Roy Burris.  Dr. Lee Anderson talks about the celebration that is planned and invites Dr. Burris’s friends to come and help honor him for 40 years of work and dedication to the beef cattle industry in Kentucky.

Kentucky Farm Bureau leaders recently met with Canadian Consul General Doug George to discuss trade between Canada and Kentucky.  Farm Bureau President Mark Haney and 1st Vice President Eddie Melton discuss the meeting, the importance of trade with Canada and Mexico, some of the issues discussed and the impact on Kentucky Agriculture.
