It goes without saying, but the coronavirus pandemic has made the world we live in look very different than it did just a few months ago. We have had to learn to work remotely, meet virtually, and stay six feet apart from one another.

We are thankful for USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue’s announcement of a $19 billion assistance package for our nation’s farm families in response to the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic to the agriculture community.

CBOT futures closed widely mixed with wheat futures on the winning side. U.S. corn is 7% planted compared to 9% average. U.S. soybean planted is 2% done versus 1% average. Cattle futures closed moderately lower, and close to the day’s lows. Lean hog futures closed strongly higher with the nearer contracts leading the way.

CBOT futures closed steady to lower with closing prices near the day’s lows. Cattle futures closed higher with the April LC contract limited by light cash trade at $94-95/cwt ($105 last week).  Lean Hog futures closed lower with nearby May LH taking the hardest hit.

CBOT futures closed mixed with corn, wheat and soybeans much lower.  Cattle futures closed mostly higher with nearby LC up $1.02/cwt.  Lean hog futures closed higher with the April LH contract expiring today down .05 to 45.60.
