President's Column: Grassroots, The Foundation of Farm Bureau

Whenever I have been asked to describe what Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) is about or how it operates, I always begin with one word: “grassroots.”

If you have been around this organization as long as I have, that word comes up often and we never want to lose sight of how important it really is.

CBOT futures closed widely mixed with soybean meal leading bean futures higher.  Cattle futures closed mostly lower and near the day’s lows.  Cattle futures closed mostly lower and near the day’s lows.

CBOT futures closed moderately higher with corn and soybeans finishing the day near the highs; futures drifted higher throughout the day. Cattle futures were little changed at the close, ending up mid-range.  Lean hog futures closed slightly higher except August LH gained $1.17/cwt.

CBOT futures closed widely mixed with wheat higher and corn/soybeans lower. Live cattle closed slightly lower while feeders were higher beyond the August and September FC contracts. Lean hog futures closed higher as the market turned around from Monday’s selloff.

CBOT futures closed lower except for the soy complex and milk futures. Cattle futures closed lower with feeders down more than live cattle. Lean hog futures closed lower with larger losses in the 2020 contracts.
