Kentucky Family Wins Top Honor from American Farm Bureau Federation

Caleb and Leanne Ragland of LaRue County won a top honor during the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) virtual convention today, being named winners of the Young Farmers & Ranchers “Achievement Award.”

Grain and soy complex futures closed strongly higher but well short of the day’s highs, especially in soy contracts. It was turnaround Tuesday in cattle futures with Live Cattle erasing Monday’s big losses, but feeder futures gained less as the CBOT surged higher. Lean hogs futures closed slightly higher except for the nearby February LH losing 30 cents.

CBOT future managed only a mixed close after trading sharply higher Sunday evening through the night.  Cattle futures closed sharply lower on the first day of 2021. Lean hog futures closed strongly higher across the board on support from a very strong pork market in the morning.

Bullish momentum pushed the corn, Chicago wheat and soy complex to new contract highs to end 2020 – HAPPY NEW YEAR! Cattle futures closed slightly higher in narrow range trading. Lean Hog futures opened higher and never looked back, closing strongly higher with the nearby February LH up $2.67/cwt.
