"It's Gooo-od": Feeding Kentucky Buys 10,000 Pounds of Purnell's Sausage

Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Ryan Quarles has announced Feeding Kentucky has purchased 10,080 pounds of Kentucky Proud pork sausage from the iconic Purnell’s “Old Folks” headquartered in Simpsonville, Kentucky. The purchase is funded by a historic donation from Kentucky Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company to Feeding Kentucky as part of the Kentucky Hunger Initiative last month.

CBOT futures closed mostly higher by small amounts. Cattle futures closed mixed with the 2020 contracts mostly lower. Lean hog futures closed sharply lower and generally within 50 cents of the day’s lows. Milk futures closed higher for the second straight day with the June Milk contract $3.00/cwt above its April lows.

CBOT futures closed strongly higher today, led by the soybean market. Live cattle futures closed higher while feeder futures lost value. Lean hog futures closed sharply higher on rising pork values and strong weekly pork export sales.

CBOT futures closed mixed with gains in corn and beans and losses in wheat contracts.  Cattle futures closed mixed in narrow trading ranges.  Beyond the nearby May LH contract, hog futures closed lower to sharply lower in the deferred contracts. US equity markets soared today, adding to recent gains.
