Steve Kelley of Carlisle County will be honored as the 2019 Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) “Farmer of the Year” during the organization’s 100th annual meeting in Louisville in December.

After trading to the upside overnight, corn and soybeans headed south once the market reopened at 8:30 am.  Cattle futures closed lower with feeder cattle leading the way down.  Lean Hog futures closed lower with the nearby December LH down sharply.

CBOT futures closed mixed with wheat gaining on corn, while soybean futures slipped four cents.  Live Cattle closed mixed while Feeder Cattle closed lower. After opening near steady, lean hog futures steadily moved higher throughout the morning and closed near the highs, up sharply on the day.

KFB Third Quarter Marketbasket Survey Shows Slight Increase in Food Prices

The Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) Marketbasket Survey results from the third quarter of 2019 indicate an increase to the overall cost of food with substantial price fluctuations of most items.
