Maintaining adequate roads and bridges will continue to be the focus of rural and urban areas of Kentucky, especially with talk of changes in the gasoline tax by the Kentucky General Assembly.  Lincoln County Farmer David Campbell, who chairs the Kentucky Farm Bureau Energy and Transportation Committee, says maintaining the current gas tax formula is critical for rural roads and bridges.

Although the deadline to respond to the Census of Agriculture was in early February, only 40 percent of farmers and landowners have complied.  National Ag Statistics Service Eastern Mountain Region Director David Knopf says farmer still need to respond online or by mail, or they will  receive a phone call from the National Ag Statistics Service.

Congressman Hal Rogers says the new interstate in rural Kentucky is technology and broadband internet service.  The Fifth District Congressman discussed the “New Interstate” with more than 350 Kentucky Farm Bureau members during the Congressional Tour February 24th through the 28th.
