Negotiations are already starting to craft a new Farm Bill.  Alan Watts, who is sitting in for Mike Feldhaus, discusses the Farm Bill with First District Congressman James Comer.  Comer, who previously served as Kentucky Ag Commissioner, recently participated in a Kentucky Farm Bureau Farm Bill meeting.  He discusses possible cuts, what programs are important and how the next Farm bill may look.

A new opportunity for youth with an ag connection is opening up on some Kentucky college campuses.  Ky Farm Bureau’s Jackson Tolle, who heads up the group’s young farmer program, talks about the Collegiate Farm Bureau program and how it’s unfolded in the past couple of years at Eastern Kentucky University and at Murray State .

The first national purebred beef breed headquarters is coming to Kentucky. Thanks to a state Ag Development Grant, the American Black Hereford Association will be opening its office in Lexington. Feldhaus visits with Tim Tarter of Pulaski County, president of that national association.

An update on the unique relationship between farmer and consumer in CSAs, community supported agriculture produce-buying arrangements by contract.  Spencer County farmer Sandi Deustsche says she and husband George are almost in their tenth year of this kind of program and says it’s working well for them and their customers.
