CBOT futures closed higher led by soybean oil and soybeans.  The soy complex was supported by the Malaysian palm oil market and strong nearby demand for soybeans as harvest is just starting – and harvest may be slowed by rain.  Cattle futures traded both sides of unchanged and closed lower.

CBOT futures closed mixed.  Soybean futures closed slightly higher with support coming from the soybean oil market which rallied on rising palm oil prices.  Live Cattle futures closed mixed with the four contracts through April 2017 settling between $107.25-107.90.

CBOT futures closed lower except for the soy complex. Corn and wheat futures were weighed on by disappointing weekly export sales reports this morning. Cattle futures closed higher with the October LC contract gapping higher; resistance comes in at 108.45, the August high.

CBOT futures closed with minimal changes after trading modest ranges. Corn and wheat closed at the high end of the range with strong buying in the final minutes.  Live Cattle closed higher and near the day’s highs as prices trended up throughout the day.

CBOT futures closed mixed in response to today’s USDA Crop Production Report which had a bearish surprise for soybeans.  Cattle futures closed higher for the second straight trading day, adding to Friday’s strong gains. Futures are now $5-6/cwt above the contract lows set last week.

CBOT futures closed higher on strong fund buying. Futures were led higher by soybean meal and soybeans on strong export sales.  Cattle futures finally turned around after 4 days of sharp losses, as traders booked their profits in an oversold market.

CBOT futures closed mixed with the soy complex performing the best. Market support came from a sharply lower US Dollar Index and the report showing better-than-expected export inspections(shipments) for last week.  Cattle futures closed sharply lower with nearby Feeder Cattle contracts touching the daily limit of $4.50/cwt.

Corn and wheat futures closed strongly higher on the first day of September; this comes after 8 straight days of lower closes.  It was a terrible day in cattle futures with nearby October Live Cattle closing down the daily $3.00 limit.  Lean Hog futures closed higher despite the crash in cattle futures.

Except for KC Wheat, CBOT futures closed lower today with corn and Chicago Wheat trading to new contract lows. Soybeans and meal traded to new lows for this move.  Cattle futures opened higher today on follow-through buying after Tuesday’s huge rally at day’s end. But prices trended down throughout the day.

CBOT futures closed sharply lower at or near the day’s lows. Prices were pressured by bearish technical signals, a stronger US Dollar, weaker energy futures and an approaching harvest of huge crops.  Cattle futures soared higher today, but it didn’t happen until the last hour of trading.
