CBOT futures closed steady to sharply lower, with most contracts closing at or near the day’s lows.  Cattle futures closed lower on continued concern for market fundamentals.  Lean Hog futures closed lower but in the middle of the day’s trading range.

CBOT futures closed lower in the major commodities, pressured by favorable weather and forecasts that encouraged heavy long liquidation.  Live Cattle closed lower while Feeder Cattle were mixed, thanks to the lower corn futures market. Yesterday’s small gains were erased with today’s losses.

CBOT futures closed mixed in response to the midday reports from USDA. USDA surprised traders with about 1.2 million more corn acres than expected. On the other hand, soybean acres were just below the average trade guess, although still the largest on record. Cattle futures closed higher across the board, extending the rally into its fourth day.

Corn futures rallied overnight with the day’s highs coming before 7 am CDT.  However, once markets reopened at 830 am, corn trended lower all day long.  Cattle futures closed higher, adding to Monday’s price gains.

CBOT futures closed mixed. Funds bought the soy complex and sold corn and wheat. The rising US Dollar is negative for exports and commodity prices.   Lean Hog futures closed lower with pressure from Friday’s bearish Hogs and Pigs Report and weaker pork markets.  Cattle futures closed higher on short-covering following Friday’s sharp losses.

CBOT futures closed lower but off the day’s lows. Markets were pressured by less threatening weather forecasts and technical selling, including funds liquidating some long positions – especially in soybeans, meal and soyoil.

CBOT futures closed sharply lower and at/near the day’s lows. Futures traded higher overnight; however, when trading reopened at 830 am, futures headed lower and trended down into the closing bell.  After a one-day reprieve yesterday, cattle futures resumed the sell-off on long-liquidation and technical selling.

CBOT futures closed mixed. Corn continues to be supported by fund buying based on hot/dry forecasts.  Soybean futures closed mid-range; soybeans are not threatened as much as corn by short-term weather issues.  Cattle futures closed higher after trading much lower in early morning trading.  Lean Hog futures soared today after the June LH contract expired at Noon.

CBOT futures closed mixed in a volatile trading session. Futures moved higher Sunday evening when markets opened due to weather concerns. However, prices turned lower during the morning trade.  Cattle futures closed limit down on heavy liquidation by the longs as they lose confidence that beef demand will support cash prices.

CBOT futures closed mixed.  Corn and soybeans closed relatively unchanged considering the very wide trading ranges seen following the USDA Supply-Demand Report.  Cattle futures closed strongly lower on a lack of cash market direction and demand concerns.  Lean Hog futures closed lower in June/July and higher in deferred contracts.
