CBOT futures closed mixed in a volatile trading session. Futures moved higher Sunday evening when markets opened due to weather concerns. However, prices turned lower during the morning trade.  Cattle futures closed limit down on heavy liquidation by the longs as they lose confidence that beef demand will support cash prices.

CBOT futures closed mixed.  Corn and soybeans closed relatively unchanged considering the very wide trading ranges seen following the USDA Supply-Demand Report.  Cattle futures closed strongly lower on a lack of cash market direction and demand concerns.  Lean Hog futures closed lower in June/July and higher in deferred contracts.

CBOT futures closed mostly lower today, taking a break from the strong rally that’s been going on for weeks. Weakness was mostly blamed on a wetter forecast, but a stronger US Dollar also weighed on commodity futures.

CBOT futures closed steady to sharply higher. The old-crop soybean meal and soybean markets led the market higher through mid-morning.  Cattle futures closed higher as traders are optimistic about the cash cattle and beef markets.  Lean Hog futures closed strongly higher as futures extend the 6-7 day rally off recent lows.

CBOT futures traded lower overnight, but when trading reopened at 830 am CT, prices soared and kept going right into the closing bell.  Cattle futures closed mixed but much closer to the highs than the lows which occurred early in the day.

Most CBOT futures were down sharply, led lower by the Chicago Wheat market. Improving (drier) weather forecasts pressured the markets in addition to the stronger US Dollar and end-of-month profit-taking.

Trading at the CBOT was interesting today with wide trading ranges and a change in market leadership.  Futures were led higher overnight by the soy market, but when trading reopened at 830 am, futures fell abruptly.  Cattle futures closed strongly higher after trading lower during the first 1.5 hours.  Lean Hog futures also closed higher with June LH up for the third straight day.

CBOT futures closed steady to sharply higher with the market led higher by July Soybean Meal and soybean futures.  Cattle futures closed mostly higher in a fairly narrow trading range day.  Lean Hog futures closed higher with late-day strength, supported by stronger pork values.

CBOT futures closed mixed with new-crop soybeans losing the most. Morning market strength eventually gave way to selling after lunch.  Cattle futures closed lower, adding to the sharp losses posted Monday when some contracts were down the daily limit due to last Friday’s bearish Cattle on Feed Report.

CBOT futures closed mixed as traders anticipate how weather will impact planting progress and the acreage mix.  Commodity futures were impacted today by a stronger US Dollar that resulted from the release of the FOMC meeting minutes which suggests the FED could raise key interest rates in June if economic signals remain positive. Lean Hog futures closed lower with a 2 percent loss in the nearby June LH contract.
