This recent Murray State University (MSU) agri-business graduate/first-time farm owner/University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment Weed Science Technician/social media blogger/animal lover is blending these many roles to accomplish her mission of carrying on a family farming tradition.

Corn and the soy complex rallied strongly while wheat futures sank.  Cattle futures closed lower, adding to yesterday’s losses.  Lean hog futures closed higher in contracts beyond the May LH. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for February rose 7.9% from a year ago, the highest level since January 1982.

CBOT futures closed widely mixed with soybeans higher and most wheat contracts much lower. Cattle futures closed higher except for nearby March Feeder Cattle. Lean hog futures closed strongly higher on support from higher cash hog prices and pork cutout values.

Corn, soybeans and soybean meal closed mixed with nearby weakness while wheat continued to soar higher. Cattle futures closed moderately higher, ending a 10-day down trend in prices. Lean hog futures closed lower with bigger losses in the August, October and December contracts.
