LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY: Kentucky Farm Bureau and the University of Kentucky
College of Agriculture are teaming up to sponsor Farm Bureau/Legislative
Day as part of the Ag Roundup Week activities at the UK Campus.
The event will be held Friday, September 9, at the Gluck Equine Research
Center.
Farm Bureau leaders from across the state are joining with College of
Agriculture Officials and members of the General Assembly’s Interim
Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee for a full day of meetings
and tours.
The agenda gets an early 8 a.m. start, as Kentucky Farm Bureau President
Sam Moore details his organization’s legislative agenda for the
2006 General Assembly session to members of the Rural Issues Subcommittee.
At 10 a.m., the committee will hold its regular September meeting in
Gorham Hall of the E.S. Good Barn. One item on the docket is an update
on the closing of some Farm Service Agency offices by Jeff Hall, executive
director of Kentucky Farm Service Agency.
More than 60 exhibits showcasing the College of Agriculture will be displayed
under a tent and lunch will be served for the hosts and visitors.
Facility tours are on tap during the afternoon, including the Kentucky
Tobacco Research and Development Center, the Gluck Center, Plant Sciences
Building, Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Department, the Livestock
Disease Diagnostic Center and the Animal Research Center.
