Kentucky Farm Bureau leaders will elect a new president during the organization’s 86th annual convention Dec. 7-10 at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville. Thanks to a scholarship from the White-Reinhardt Fund, Judy Hayden, kindergarten teacher at Utica Elementary in Daviess County, will attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) conference and pick up ideas for new ways to teach children about agriculture. The conference will be held June 8-11 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Retail prices for food at the supermarket rose 2.5% in the past six months, according to the latest Kentucky Farm Bureau marketbasket survey. The total cost of 40 basic grocery items in the 2005 first quarter was $96.50, an increase of $2.35 from the third quarter of 2004, the informal survey found.
